02/07/2010STRONG DEMAND Ian Jones, Vice-Chairman, British Egg Products Association, comment piece I’m happy to say that there is strong demand for Lion egg products at present and I can only see that growing after new research on the use of eggs in foodservice was published. Research, undertaken following a number of food poisoning outbreaks in the UK caused by imported eggs, showed that around four out of every five consumers expect to see British eggs being used in food service outlets and 60% want the country of origin on the menu. The British Lion code assures caterers and food manufacturers who specify Lion eggs and egg products that they are using a quality product produced to the highest food safety standards. A wide range of egg products specifi cally tailored to meet the needs of foodservice operators is available. Consumers want safe British egg and egg products and we have the opportunity to supply them, so let’s make sure we give them what they want. * by OnePoll, February 2010
